I designed the “Quiz Whiz” promotional t-shirt for Lab Manager’s Pittcon tradeshow held in Philadelphia, creating a graphic that captured the spirit of the city through its most iconic food — the cheesesteak. The challenge was to develop a design that felt playful and memorable for event attendees, while still aligning with the scientific theme of the “Whiz Quiz” activation.
The t-shirt was designed as a reward for attendees who completed the quiz at Lab Manager’s booth, making it an integral part of the overall event experience. To support this, I blended local cultural references with a bold, approachable graphic style, using the cheesesteak as a visual anchor to tie the quiz concept to the host city. Drawing from my interest in hand lettering, I selected a type style that mimics brush tip lettering to add energy, personality, and a more human touch to the design.
The final result was a distinctive piece of promotional merchandise that enhanced booth engagement, reinforced the campaign theme, and gave attendees a fun, memorable takeaway that connected science, place, and personality.
